Regular readers will know about my passionate anticipation for Blade Runner 2049. Thankfully, it did not disappoint. Director Denis Villeneuve has delivered a modern masterpiece, one that offered an extension to the original storyline and yet managed to push the universe further than anyone could have imagined.
Part of the brilliance of the film lies in the sound design, and thanks to the heroes at SoundWorks Collection we can now get behind that wonderful soundtrack and find out more about how it all came together.
In this video profile we meet the sound team behind Blade Runner 2049, including supervising sound editor Mark Mangini, sound designer Theo Green, re-recording mixer Doug Hemphill and Ron Bartlett, picture editor Joe Walker and Composers Hans Zimmer and Benjamin Wallfisch.
It’s a sublime example of how music and sound can add so much to filmmaking, and how a team of dedicated artists working together can achieve something truly magical.
