I’ve made no secret to our regular readers that I’m eagerly anticipating the release of Blade Runner 2049, the follow-up to one of the most influential movies of all time.
Directed by Denis Villeneuve (Arrival, Sicario) Blade Runner 2049 stars Ryan Gosling, Robin Wright, Sylvia Hoeks, Ana de Armas, Dave Bautista, and Mackenzie Davis alongside original Blade Runner Harrison Ford, in a tale that carries on from the first film, 30 years in the future.
Now the good folks over at Collider have just gone and turned the excitement levels up t0 11 with the release of a brand new ‘prequel to the sequel’ – directed by Luke Scott (Morgan), son of the original’s director, Ridley Scott.
This “in-world” piece is one of three short films that will debut ahead of Blade Runner 2049, which will further flesh out the Blade Runner universe with even more information.
This in-world short film takes place in the year 2036 and features Jared Leto’s creepy bastard character, Niander Wallace, as he introduces a new line of “perfected” replicants called the Nexus 9, seeking to get the prohibition on replicants repealed.
Check it out, film fans…
