While the previous film of the Alien prequels, Prometheus, was received with decidedly mixed reactions, it looks like Director Ridley Scott has gone back to basics with Alien: Covenant.
The audience just wants to be scared shitless by unfathomable terrors in space, right? Of course we do! And the teasers and trailers that have been released for Covenant look like they are going to deliver exactly that.
Bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, members of the colony ship Covenant discover what they think to be an uncharted paradise. While there, they meet David (Michael Fassbender), the synthetic survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition. The mysterious world soon turns dark and dangerous when a hostile alien life-form forces the crew into a deadly fight for survival.
A juicy insight into the fate of the new ill-fated crew gave us a 4min prologue, which is all smiles and laughter, and before any blood has been shed. Rather aptly titled ‘Last Supper’.
Aw man, it looks like that crew are a great bunch of folks, right? I mean, what an amazing adventure those guys are going to have together, right?
Wrong. Very, very wrong.
They is going to die, dear friends. With the arrival of the latest red-band trailer, we learn a little more about how things go slightly off plan for our intrepid travelers, in what insiders have described as the ‘bloodiest alien yet’.
Alien: Covenant is released in Australia on May 18th.
